The Lila Group is an ongoing womens' circle using expressive arts, ritual and games to explore ones relationship to Self, others, higher self, God, soul and life path. Expressive Arts weaves multiple modalities planned and spontaneous: drawing, painting, clay, mask making, drama games, role play, music, journaling, collage, movement, dance, dreamwork, guided imagery, meditation, and ritual. Non-verbal exploration can open up aspects of the unconscious mind and allow for movement in stuck places. We also have discussion and verbal support about our dynamic lives. Children are experts at play. They are able to relate to symbols in multiple ways because they have not formed fixed grooves of identification. A ball for example, can become a planet, an eyeball, a cannon, a nose...whatever suits them in their play needs. As adults, we have more rigid and fixed ideas of what things are and how we play with them. While this allows for sustainable functioning on one level, it limits the ability to play and loosen boundaries. Play allows us to take many perspectives on one thing thereby bringing lightness, freedom and new life to something that seems simple, old or boring. Re-learning about play gets us in touch with the more sensual and divine aspects of life. We open up our sense of smell, touch, taste, vision and hearing. Slowing things down, speeding them up, shaking up our rigidity to bring new life to all that lives and breathes inside and outside of ourselves. The more dimensions or parts of ourselves we uncover the more ways we can play with and love others. This group is a playful dance with structure and flow. Without one or the other, we become groundless or rigid. Come to one session (payment required) and see if it feels right for you. If so, sign up for 10 sessions. These sessions do not need to be used sequentially. Art materials provided and no art experience needed. Every Sunday evening 7-9pm at 3059 Fillmore Street (cross street Filbert). Fees: $50 per session (sliding scale available) Note: we often have guest co-leaders who bring in their wisdom and expertise (artists, healers, massage therapists, spiritual teachers).
